I am an experienced physiotherapist with 12 years post-qualification experience. In 2012 I gained a Masters degree in neurological physiotherapy. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and the Health Care Professions Council.
I specialise in neuro-physiotherapy and currently work as a clinical specialist neuro-physiotherapist in a regional inpatient neuro rehab unit. I also work as a case manager for clients with complex conditions.
In addition to my clinical roles I prepare expert witness reports on physiotherapy, quantum,and breach of duty. The type of injuries within my expertise include:
Spinal Cord Injury
As a clinical specialist neuro-physiotherapist, I regularly assess and treat clients with catastrophic disabilities as result of neurological injury. I have extensive experience in retraining head and neck control as well as sitting balance as part of their rehabilitation. I have expertise in utilising BIODEX treadmill and de-weighing harness to support gait re-education.
My clinical experience includes managing and treating clients who have complex tracheostomies and clients with profound brain injuries who are in an altered state of consciousness. I am trained to administer Botulinum Toxin injections to assist in spasticity management.
As well as my work in neurological rehabilitation, I also have expertise of working in intensive care, inpatient wards, outpatients, and in the community.
My practice includes the use of functional electrical stimulation to assist in management of neurological patients with foot drop. I also have experience in using specialist equipments such as tilt table, standing frames as well as robotics to facilitate recovery of clients with neurological injury.
I am trained in using meditation to help clients with brain injury to manage anxiety and anger.
I am experienced in training carers and family members to deliver aspects of physiotherapy interventions to enable a 24-hour approach to rehabilitation that is integral to preventing secondary complications.
I am RoSPA qualified manual handling trainer and have extensive experience in carrying out complex manual handling risk assessments for clients with ventilators, tracheostomies, and severe movement disorders and train their carers in optimal manual handling.
In order to develop expert handling skills, I have undertaken three-week Bobath training. Bobath concept is a problem-solving neurodevelopment approach for assessment and treatment of individuals with neurological disability
I attend regular training in order to maintain my professional development. I have undergone training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities as an expert witness under the Civil Procedure Rules.
I proactively seek latest knowledge in the field of physiotherapy and have published a paper in the international journal of person-centred medicine on how person-centred medicine can be delivered in the field of neuro-rehabilitation.
I speak fluent English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and Mirpuri.
