EXPERIENCE

I am a Registered General Nurse with 20 years post qualification experience. Since 2005 I have specialised in critical care. I have significant expertise in Burns and Plastics Trauma where catastrophic injury has caused disfigurement and permanent disability. Prior to this I worked in general medical and surgical Intensive Care departments.

As a Senior Critical Care Practitioner, I have dealt with the full range of pressured and challenging clinical scenarios, handling both acute emergency situations and management of long-term conditions.

I currently work as a Case Manager. In addition to this role I prepare Civil Procedure compliant Expert Witness nursing care and breach of duty reports in personal injury and clinical negligence cases. I understand my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses.

My areas of experience include:

Critical/Intensive Care
Amputation
Burns
Brain Injury
Spinal Injury
Respiratory Disease
Neurological Disease
Tracheostomy Care
Wound Care
Elderly Care
Mental Health Conditions
Palliative Care/End of Life
Maxillary Facial Plastics/Oncology
Hand and Face Trauma

Between 2005- 2018 I Specialised in Burns and Maxillary Facial Trauma critical care:

2018- 2018 Trauma Coordinator – Hand and Face Trauma

2011- 2018 Senior Staff Nurse and Coordinator Critical Care Unit

2005- 2011 Intensive Care and Advanced Recovery Unit

My experience in these highly-specialised departments has enabled me to gain specific clinical skills to care for critically ill adults with life changing injuries, who need to be intensely supported through the recovery and rehabilitation process.

My experience includes medical, surgical, trauma, and elderly care, with personal insight and compassion for special educational needs.

I have worked collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary teams to enable best outcomes for patients in care and resettlement.

I am committed to maintaining and advancing my professional training and development and regularly undertake appropriate training to ensure that my skills and knowledge are current, and evidence-based. In 2017 I completed a Master's Level program in Intensive Care Nursing. I have attended expert witness training.
