EXPERIENCE
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1989 and has worked across the UK and USA. For over 15 years I have combined Independent clinical OT practice with Senior Case Management and Expert Witness work specialising in the fields of Neurology and multi–Complex Trauma. I am a trained Functional Capacity Evaluator and Healthcare Trainer with experience in vocational rehabilitation assessment and care training. This diversity allows me to maintain an extended network of professional contacts and for clinical skills to be continually updated.
I have held several senior and managerial positions overseeing therapeutic delivery to patients within various settings in both statutory and private sector departments focussing on rehabilitation, functional recovery, equipment needs, home adaptation and return to work.
I can prepare compliant Expert Witness Occupational Therapy reports for the court including those in:
- Amputation
- Brain Injury
- Cerebral Palsy
- Hand Injuries
- Orthopaedics
- Peripheral Nerve Injuries
- Spinal Injury
- Stroke
I am aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses. I have undertaken training for expert witnesses and continue my professional development through attending regular conferences and workshops targeted to those working in the field of medical litigation.

‘The Claimant’s evidence as to the value of the nursing care she provided to Mr Grant was given by Ms Jodie Brookes. She is a registered nurse. The majority of her career has been spent managing care facilities in the private sector. She specialises in palliative care and has considerable experience nursing patients with mesothelioma. Ms Brookes gave careful and impressive oral evidence. She made concessions where appropriate, yet demonstrated that her conclusions were based on a careful review both of the medical notes and of what the Claimant had told her when she visited’.
