EXPERIENCE

I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2005 and completed an MSc in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2009.

Post-qualification I have worked in hospitals and private clinics developing my specialist expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions.

Since 2010 I have worked for a large private organisation that provides community-based musculoskeletal physiotherapy to NHS patients.

In addition to my clinical role I prepare physiotherapy medico-legal reports on quantum and breach of duty. I understand my duties under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses and Part 35

I joined my current employer in 2010 as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (APP) helping to develop a new musculoskeletal service in Lincolnshire. In 2012 I transferred within the organisation to Buckinghamshire and at the same time also worked in private practice in London as a spinal specialist treating neck and lower back conditions.

In 2014 I became Clinical Lead and in 2017 I was appointed Clinical Director and currently work as Consultant Physiotherapist in the musculoskeletal and physiotherapy service. The service treats all musculoskeletal disorders and accepts referrals from GP practice and directly from Orthopaedic consultants for post-operative rehabilitation.

I assess and treat a wide variety of complex musculoskeletal conditions. I am responsible for the ongoing development of the service, utilising specialised evidence-based clinical skills to ensure that patient pathways are evidenced-based, efficient, and effective. My advance skills in ultrasound imaging and injection therapy (including procedures that require high training and specialisation like Glenohumeral joint hydrodilatation, Tendon Calcification Barbotage (single clinician technique), Achilles tendon high volume stripping, Sacroiliac joint injections, and Suprascapular nerve blocks) mean that I work closely with the local Medical Director delivering injection clinics (including ultrasound guided). I am also closely involved in multidisciplinary meetings in secondary care in specialist areas of Pain, Orthopaedics, and Rheumatology.

I undertake clinical assessment of the most complex cases that enter our service and require a second opinion. I am responsible for authorising the referrals to special units like Neurology and Neurosurgery. My clinical responsibility extends to cover the services of three General Practitioners and one Orthopaedic Consultant. Working alongside pain management and Orthopaedic specialists I am responsible for running a twice-monthly foot and ankle clinic and the spinal and pain multidisciplinary team clinics.

Currently, I am leading a new research project in our service, testing the effectiveness of physiotherapy on frozen shoulder, Subacromial Pain Syndrome, Knee, and Hip OA.

I attend regular training updates and seminars in order to maintain and progress my professional development.I was awarded ‘Allied Health Professional of the Year 2019’ in the Health Care Awards.
