Profile

I am a qualified Registered General Nurse specialising in respiratory and general practice nursing for nearly 30 years. I currently work as a locum respiratory nurse specialist / general practice nurse in GP surgeries and other settings. This includes respiratory care lead for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions. I provide an advanced role supporting the GPs in the new diagnosis of respiratory conditions in both adults and children, as well as dealing with difficult complex cases, which involves liaising with respiratory consultants.

I am an assessor for the Association for Respiratory Technology & Physiology. This involves assessing candidates in spirometry for the national register including the objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE), marketing portfolios and exams.

I have also spent some time doing extra additional hours as a research nurse, medico-legal  records review nurse (Mesothelioma cases) and expert clinical screening nurse.

In addition to my current clinical role I provide expert witness reports for court on nursing care for people with asbestos related disease.

I regularly undertake appropriate training to ensure that my skills and knowledge are current, and evidence based.

I understand my responsibilities as an expert witness and Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules. I have undertaken training on the role and duties of an expert witness.
