Profile

Amy is a dedicated mental health nurse and an Expert Witness for Maggie Sargent & Associates and has 12 years of post-qualification experience working with adults with mental health conditions. She has 8 years of experience working in a primary care setting where she obtained the Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.

In her current role as a mental health nurse prescriber within a university student health service, Amy runs daily clinics and follow-up appointments according to patient need and NICE guidelines. She works alongside the psychology team to provide specialist formulation; one-to-one CBT based sessions and co-facilitates CBT/DBT groupwork sessions which includes in-depth report writing.

Amy has worked with drug and alcohol specialist services where she held a caseload of patients and supported them in meeting their recovery goals, as well as running a community alcohol detox clinic. Since 2017, she has been a part of a health integration team whose aim is to reduce self-harm presentations in A&E.        

Aside from her clinical skills, Amy has experience of commissioning training for other mental health practitioners within primary care.
