Profile

I am a Registered General Nurse with over 30 years’ clinical experience both in the civilian and military field with a background in primary, urgent and unscheduled care.  I am currently an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner within a large, busy General Practice. In addition, I am an experienced Expert Witness in the Clinical Negligence field I possess well-developed planning and decision-making/problem solving abilities and am a highly motivated individual.

 

With effective communication skills, I form good relationships with colleagues and patients. I work autonomously within general practice attending to urgent on the day cases, as well as arranging investigations and referrals.  As an Infection Control Lead Nurse, I am responsible for overseeing the infection control policy/audit and compliance and I have an interest in antimicrobial prescribing/stewardship. I am also a visiting lecturer at the University of the West of England and clinical teaching and development are particular passions.

 

Since 2013, and in addition to my clinical role, I have been acting as an Expert Witness, writing Breach of Duty reports for both Claimant and Defendant. Areas of expertise include, advanced practice, prescribing, general practice, general practice nursing.

 

Achievements and work undertaken to date include:

·        Delivery of patient centered care at an advanced level working autonomously delivering a high standard of care to patients presenting with undiagnosed and chronic conditions.

·        Nursing expert in the Clinical Negligence field; preparation of breach of duty reports for both Claimant and Defendant solicitors. A vetted, individual member of the Expert Witness Institute.

·        Head of Clinical Negligence for a Medico-legal expert witness company leading a team of other liability experts; mentoring, quality assurance, training, recruitment, marketing and business development.

·        Completed the MSc in Advanced Practice at UWE in 2023.

·        Nursing Officer in the British Army, QARANC.
