Profile
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2010. Since qualifying, I have worked with both adult and paediatric patients in a variety of settings.
I started my career working at the largest hospital in Africa, from 2010 to 2013.I held both an adult and a paediatric caseload that consisted of treating male and female patients with acute mental health disorders, adolescents with mental health and substance abuse difficulties, as well as children that suffered from acute mental health disorders.
I was involved in medical paediatric care that involved both inpatient and outpatient care. This involved therapy around premature infants, neonatal care, kangaroo mother care, developmental delay, Erbs palsy, sensory processing difficulties, HIV clinics, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, genetic conditions and syndromes, neurologically impaired children, cerebral palsy and learning-disabled children. During this time, I attended addition courses and focussed on premature infants and developmental care in NICU’s giving education to parents and nurses to better support venerable infants. I was the Neonatal Allied Medical Discipline coordinator. I supervised first, second- and third-year university students and was responsible for clinical teaching.
In 2013 I moved to a special school setting and I was responsible for treating children with diagnosed learning, speech and language delays, as well as other complex motor delays. I was responsible for holding and case managing a load of approximately 50 children. During this time, I studied Bobath Neurodevelopmental treatment to help evaluate and treat children with complex brain injuries and cerebral palsy. I also studied Ayres Sensory Integration to help understand how people process and integrate sensory information.
In 2022 I started as a Locum Occupational Therapist for the NHS and I have worked for various NHS trusts focusing on the assessment and treatment of children in the community. I was responsible for delivering care to children with diverse and complex needs.
I was a senior clinical manager at in the UK's private healthcare sector, where I supervised junior staff, assessed complex cases for various local authorities and successfully opened and managed a new clinic in London. I assessed and treated babies from 0-2 years, as well as treating children and young people from 2-25 years with a variety of needs.
I currently work as an Expert Witness with Maggie Sargent & Associates and as a case Manager for Community Case Management Services.
I contribute to the qualification process for therapists pursuing Ayers SensoryIntegration Qualification in South Africa by actively and regularly participating as a protocol marker for the C3 course through SAISI.
I have undergone training in the medico legal process and I am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses.
I engage in regular training sessions and clinical supervision to stay abreast of evidence-based practices.
