Profile

I qualified as an occupational therapist in 1993 and furthered my studies at the University of Exeter, obtaining a Batchelor of Philosophy in occupational therapy after having been awarded a Scholarship from the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).  Subsequently I have worked with clients with a variety of physical and mental health conditions both in the statutory and private sectors, in the UK and overseas.

These clinical roles have provided me with a wide clinical knowledge base and an in-depth understanding of the impact of disability, pain, neurological dysfunction and complex trauma and orthopaedic conditions.  I have experience in working with upper and lower amputees.

I have managed and directed a highly reputable domiciliary care company for 15 years.  We gained reputation for our high standards of care we provided for complex care cases mainly Spinal Cord Injuries, Traumatic Brain Injuries and degenerative neurological cases.

During this time, I have chaired the Dementia Action Alliance for Alzheimer’s Society in the Swale district.

I maintain my knowledge and skills in my expertise through Consultancy work with reputable care agencies, my expert witness work, through attending up-dates and training.

I have prepared many medico legal reports for clients to date.  I am a confident writer and I have excellent clinical and analytical skills that I have acquired throughout my career.  I have given oral evidence in court on several occasions as a care expert witness.  I have further court room experience in various other settings that I encountered during my time as a director, to include a Coroner’s Inquest in an interested person status and representing employment tribunal cases and directly cross examining witnesses.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
