Profile
I have over thirty-five years’ experience working as a qualified Occupational Therapist in the UK and USA. For over eighteen years I have combined practice in the NHS and private sector with Case Management, Occupational Therapy and Expert witness work. I am a trained Functional Capacity Evaluator and have experience in Vocational Rehabilitation assessment and evaluation.
I have a special interest in neurology, amputees and complex multi-trauma.
I have held several senior and managerial positions overseeing therapeutic delivery to patients within various settings in both statutory and private sector departments focusing on rehabilitation, functional recovery, equipment needs, home adaptation and return to work.
I can prepare compliant Expert Witness Occupational Therapy reports for Court and I am aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses.
I have undertaken training for expert witnesses and continue my professional development through attending regular conferences and workshops targeted at those working in the field of medical litigation.
Occupational Therapist
Employed as an Independent Consultant OT for private clients and armed forces charities for equipment provision, housing adaptations, hand therapy, visual and sensory impairments advice, work return.
Case Manager
Independent and associate Case Manager working with adults and children involved within the personal injury/medical negligence litigation process; both settled and unsettled cases. Co-ordination of medical and therapy interventions, MDT and care team management to expedite rehabilitation and recovery. Overseeing independent living trials and rehousing,, Joint working with educational establishments for children and young adults; EHCP completion, Child in Need reviews, education, and training for school/college staff. Working with employers/charities to facilitate and support return to vocational activity in those of working age.
Mixed condition caseload, such as brain injury, complete and incomplete spinal cord injury, brachial plexus injury, arm and hand injuries, cerebral palsy, sight and sensory loss, complex multi trauma, amputees, stroke, chronic pain, cognitive and psychological injury.
Expert Witness
Working as an associate Expert Witness providing OT and combined Care and OT court reports (single and joint instruction). Predominantly adult expert witness work for civil law claimants with brain injury, neurological impairments, amputees, hand injuries, visual impairment, chronic pain, and complex trauma. Some family court expert witness reports.
Healthcare Trainer
Education delivery for individuals and small groups. Topics include Brain Injury Awareness, Care Certificate, Moving and Handling, Communication, BLS, Condition Management, Stress Management, Challenging Behaviour.
