Profile

I am a qualified Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience of working within a variety of clinical roles within the NHS.

I prepare Clinical Procedure compliant expert witness Occupational Therapy, quantum and liability reports for the court on a wide range of injuries in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience of assessments and treatments in a variety of specialities.

I currently work as an Occupational Therapy Team Lead for a Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team. I complete specialist, standardised and non-standardised assessments. I am able to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to ensure a high-quality service is provided in line with National Service Guidelines.

I am experienced in completing neurological, cognitive, upper limb, functional mobility / transfers and activities of daily living assessments and treatment plans. I complete assessments of the home environment and make recommendations on our clients current and future care needs to guide short term and longer-term care provision. This involves working closely with patients, carers, and outside care agencies, to ensure the appropriate level of support is provided.

Following a thorough assessment process, I identify appropriate equipment, home adaptations and treatment strategies. My aim is to aid the rehabilitation journey, manage symptoms, maximise function and improve an individual’s quality of life and independence.

As part of my NHS role, I attend regular service development meetings within Occupational Therapy, and on behalf of the stroke service pathway. I aim to ensure that the service that I provide meets best practice guidelines, is evidenced based and patient centred.

Prior to my current role, I worked as a rotational Occupational Therapist, covering acute Neurology, acute stroke, stoke rehabilitation, elderly rehabilitation, general medical wards, and paediatrics. This has enabled me to gain experience of working with clients of all ages, within a variety of clinical settings, both within the acute hospital and community environments.

I complete regular clinical and managerial supervision and I attend regular training courses to ensure that my skills and knowledge remain in line with current evidence-based practice and to maintain my own continuous professional development.

I have undertaken expert witness training and I understand my responsibilities as an expert witness under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witness and part 35.
