Profile

Having qualified as a Nurse in 1993 I started my career in the Emergency Department and worked within this field for 18 years both in the UK and U.S.A. I’m a qualified Emergency

Nurse Practitioner (ENP A33 2003) and a member of the Emergency Nurses Association. After many years in Emergency Nursing, I switched sides to Critical Care and currently work as a Specialist Nurse in Organ Donation which involves assessing ventilated patients who are referred from Critical Care and Emergency Departments as potential donors and coordination from referral to organ retrieval. My role means I have experience with a diverse group of patients that includes polytrauma, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery and general critical care. I am experienced in end-of-life care and associated decision making and bereavement. My role as ENP means I also have a wide and varied scope of knowledge that includes minor injury and illness as well as trauma. I worked in Critical Care through the Covid-19 pandemic and more recently obtained a master’s in medical law and Ethics (Merit) from De Montfort University.
