Profile
My NHS career began 34 years ago as a student nurse, which led onto registered nurse roles firstly in Trauma, then specialism in Accident and Emergency. Professional curiosity sparked a career change to midwifery, and I knew immediately that this was my true calling.
My 24-year midwifery career has provided me with countless wonderful moments, as well as times of great challenge. Personal and professional development has supported my career, which encompasses the full spectrum of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care provision, from team and rotational midwifery in busy obstetric units, to senior posts in a stand-alone midwife-led unit and across a multi-site Trust. My particular area of expertise is in antenatal and newborn screening, where I have held several senior local, regional and national midwifery roles. I am also an experienced mentor and preceptor.
In all of my roles, my focus has always been that women and birthing people should receive safe, high-quality and evidence-based care.
