Profile

I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1998 with first class honors degree and an additional award for most ouststanding academic performance.  In 2004 I completed an MSc in Manipulative Physiotherapy.

In my immediate post-qualification period, I completed a broad spectrum of NHS roatations providing experience in ITU, orthopaedics, amputee rehab, burns and plastics and  musculoskeletal physio. I specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 2000 and developed further skill in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of these conditions.

In 2006, I was appointed as Clinical Specialist for musculoskeletal physiotherapy at a large NHS Trust. This role involved the responsibility for supervision and training of staff across the Trust and also in the North East of England Region.

In 2009 I became the first Spinal Extended Scope Practitioner at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust. I established a service and pathway for the management of spinal pain across 3 hospital sites and engaged with stakeholders in the wider community.

After a 16 year career in the NHS, I founded a private Physiotherapy and Pain Management clinic in 2014. The clinic is a hub of expert practitioners who strive to provide excellent support and intervention for those affected by musculoskeletal, orthopaedic or  long term conditions (pain management and rheumatology).   In addition to this case load I provide an occupational physiotherapy service to work places in the region including DWP, Post Office and private businesses.

In addition to this clinical role, I prepare physiotherapy medico-legal reports on quantum and breach of  duty. My journey with report writing began following taining from Bond Solon in2013 and I have found this work to be an excellent opportunity to reflect on and audit standards of practice. Latterly this experience has been helpful in informing my work as an Associate Tutor on the BSc Hons physiotherapy route at the university of Sunderland. I understand my duties under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses and Part 35

I regularly undertake appropriate training to ensure that my skills and knowledge are current, and to maintain my professional development. I understand my responsibilities as an expert witness and Part 35 of the Civil Procedure rules. I have undertaken training on the role of an expert witness.
