Profile
During my career I have extensive experience within the NHS. Primarily I have worked in secondary care but in providing services to the Clinical Commissioning Group required collaborating with several senior medical professionals and senior executive managers.
I have published and collaborated on research articles. Topics include nutrition, medical complications after bariatric surgery, NAFLD, diabetes and innovation.
Throughout my career I have participated in continued professional development, including self-reflection and clinical supervision.
I am passionate about improving patient care through innovation, using co-design and coproduction of services and how technology, design thinking, human centred design and systems innovation can help transform services.
I am Founder & director of The iCrowd which supports and empowers nurses & midwives to be leaders in health care innovation.
I joined the NHSE Clinical Entrepreneur Programme in Feb 2021 and have experience of a cofounder in a digital Prehabilitation start up. I have experience in grant writing and forecast modelling.
Recently, I have just completed a performance coaching course with Hintsa, which is a global leader in high performance coaching.

Clinically assessing and supporting clients who had been referred to the long Covid service in Birmingham. Working as part of the MDT to support rehabilitation. My prior experience enabled me to support the development of clinical pathways and protocols.

As part of a team of nurse specialists at one of the largest bariatric centres in the UK which has been accredited as the only bariatric service in the UK to achieve centre of excellence by ASMBS. During this time, I was re-deployed to a clinical ward which required me to utilise my clinical skills, learn new systems and as a senior nurse I was able to offer emotional support to staff in challenging situations.
The Dermatology Partnership Specialist Nurse

Assisted a team of Dermatologist’s to deliver a range of treatments including the treatments of skin cancers, laser treatments for disfiguring birthmarks and a range of other dermatology conditions. I was instrumental in the use of video consultations at the start of the pandemic and in producing Covid 19 guidelines. As the lone nurse in clinic, it required that I could self-manage
and use initiative in stressful and challenging situations.

Co-ordinated and designed patient pathways utilising innovative methods to meet the complex needs of this patient group. The patient experience has always been an important priority.
Actively involved with audit projects, research, gap analysis and patient feedback methodology to help determine the direction of service developments which would meet the needs of this complex patient group. The service achieved great feedback on getting if right first-time data (GIRFT).
Instrumental in delivering and developing policies and protocols including diabetes management, ERAS and Prehabilitation. This is now being incorporated into a range of
services including cancer care. I represented the RCN in collaborating with a range of medical professionals on a national policy for Tier 3 weight management programme.
Delivered education and training packages to a range of medical clinicians and nurses of different specialities on obesity related topics. This including involvement with a national group to incorporate specialist nurse education within bariatric and metabolic surgery.

Part of an MDT team including nurse specialists in a large bariatric service. As Nurse Practitioners we developed an extended role of gastric band adjustments, which led into developing a national training programme.
In managing a large caseload, I gained valuable experience in the management of complications after bariatric surgery. As nurse specialists we took the lead in post-operative care and follow up of patients during their pathway. I also produced several patient information guides, protocols, and care plans, including audits.
