I have extensive experience in neonatal and paediatric nursing in the UK, Middle East and Australia. I have worked in general Paediatrics, Paediatric Cardiac HDU, Paediatric Cardiac ITU and Neonatal SCBU/ ITU. My most recent experience is Paediatric Emergency nursing.

I am completing my master’s degree as a Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner and I am a non- medical prescriber.

I work as an autonomous practitioner seeing patients in the ED seeing patients from 0-15 years with  acute illness and injury.

My experience has given me an excellent understanding of the child and young person’s journey in the acute care setting from presentation to the ED, admission as inpatient and discharge. I have an excellent understanding of the impact acute, complex and chronic illness or injury can have on the young person and their family. I have worked with families from a wide socio economic and cultural demographic background and the impact this can have on health literacy and health care provision and accesses to health care services.

I am familiar with the current national guidelines and clinical pathways for many of the common childhood illnesses and injuries

that present to the ED, and their ongoing management on the ward.

I am acutely aware of the importance of safely handing care back to the family and young person when discharged from the ED and providing pertinent health care advice and Information and referral to follow up and specialist services if necessary.
