Profile

I am an experienced Neurological Occupational Therapist with over 15 years’ experience predominantly in Major Trauma. As the Clinical Specialist Team Lead for Major Trauma OT at University Hospital Sussex NHS Trust, I specialise in traumatic brain injury. I am an advanced practitioner in the assessment and management of cognitive, behavioural, and perceptual deficits. As well as TBIs I see complex polytraumas with multiple injuries in the areas of traumatic amputation, spinal cord injuries and complex orthopaedic injuries.

Having specialised for a period of my career in Critical Care I am experienced in treating the severely injured patient. A broad knowledge of injuries and conditions is required from this role with patients varying from respiratory, gastrointestinal and oncology to infectious diseases, hypoxic brain injury, persistent disorders of consciousness, sensory assessment, and trauma. Thorough and accurate assessment at this hyper acute stage is fundamental to effective outcomes.

I am highly skilled in the areas of seating and positioning, assessment and treatment of the neurological upper limb, manual handling, functional rehabilitation, prescribing rehabilitation pathways as well as the prescription and provision of equipment, aids, and adaptations.

Holding a senior role within the NHS as the Clinical Specialist Team Lead for Major Trauma Occupational Therapy I provide leadership, teaching, training, and mentoring for staff.
