Profile

I am an experienced registered General Nurse and registered Midwife.

I have experience of both hospital and community nursing both in the UK and Internationally.

I have extensive and varied clinical Midwifery experience.

In addition to my current clinical practice I provide expert witness reports on Midwifery Nursing Care and Liability.

My areas of expertise include :

  • Labour
  • Caesarean Sections
  • Antenatal & Post-natal care
  • Complex pregnancies
  • Home Births
  • Community Midwifery
  • Diabetes in Pregnancy
  • Epilepsy in Pregnancy
  • Pre-eclampsia
  • Post-Partum haemorrhage
  • Shoulder dystopia
  • Care of newborn infant
  • Care throughout pregnancy

I have been in my current clinical role since 2009 working as a midwife at a large NHS Trust. My role is rotated between working on the labour wards, post-natal wards, and in the community.

I have experience of working in different health care settings and earlier in my career worked abroad.

I have worked as a Midwife in The Middle East, the United States of America, and the Philippines qualifying additional for these different jurisdictions where necessary. My roles included working as a senior Midwife on busy labour wards looking after high-risk patients during labour, pre-eclampsia, pre-term labour, and induction of labour.

I obtained my RN qualification in 1999 with the Florida Board of Nursing and spent almost two years in Phoenix, Arizona. I worked at the regional medical centre in Phoenix called The Good Samaritan Regional Medical Centre.

I have worked on studies to identify predictors for early onset pre-eclampsia, the benefits of induction of labour versus expectant management in first pregnancy for women over the age of 35 years, and the management of women with epilepsy in pregnancy. I have also spent some time working for a charitable organisation in a rural birthing centre close to Manila.

I understand the litigation process and my duties under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses and Part 35. I have undertaken training in the role of an expert witness.

I regularly undertake appropriate training to ensure that my skills and knowledge are current and to maintain my professional development.
