I am a qualified registered nurse with over 35 years of clinical experience. I have gained wide and varied nursing experience in both hospital and community settings.

I am currently Nurse Consultant in a voluntary capacity to the national charity Lipoedema UK.
I am also undertaking Independent Nurse Consulting work including carrying out Quality Reviews for Clinical Nursing Services. I undertake voluntary work on behalf of the Queens Nursing Institute on the ‘Keep In Touch’ Project.

In addition to my current nurse consultant role I provide expert witness reports on Nursing Care and Breach of Duty. I understand my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses.

My specialist nursing experience is within :

  • Lymphoedema
  • Lipoedema
  • Chronic Oedema
  • Leg Ulcers/Tissue Viability
  • District/Community Nursing Care
  • Nursing Management

In 2011 I jointly founded and set up LymphCare UK, a Community Interest Company which has grown to become a nationally and internationally renowned award winning Lymphoedema service. The service is NHS commissioned and provides a comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and Treatments services as well as offering advice, support, and training to community teams and works in collaboration with District Nurses.

My leadership role within the organisation until September 2018 was operational, clinical, and strategic in a service that provides treatment to all stages of Lymphoedema including primary, secondary, and palliative. The service also treated all chronic oedemas including lower-limb wound management and also individuals with Lipoedema. During this time I set up a number of award-winning, new and innovative initiatives such as Lymphyoga and a Specialist Bra Service.

Immediately prior to my role at LymphCare UK I was the clinical nurse specialist in Lymphoedema for five years at a NHS Primary Care Trust involving assessment of the need to provide new NHS Lymphology Services and the development and provision of a borough-wide. comprehensive Lymphoedema service.

Between 1993-2006 I worked in community nursing as part of the District nursing team at Primary Care Trusts in the West Midlands. My roles included Community Staff Nurse, District Nurse Team Leader and Matron encompassing clinical, leadership. and operational nursing duties treating patients with a wide range of conditions including palliative care and tissue viability in the community setting.

I have worked in various hospital departments earlier in my career including ENT, Orthopaedics, Respiratory, Surgical and Elderly Rehabilitation.

I attend regular training updates and seminars in order to maintain my professional development and specialist interests. I have always been interested in research, service development and improving patient care. In 2010 I gained the Queens Nurse title from the Queens Nursing Institute.

I have given oral and poster presentations at the Queens Nursing Institute, British Lymphology Society conference and Lipoedema UK annual conference and have published articles in various nursing publications.
