Profile

I graduated from London South Bank University in 2011, and since then I have worked in a variety of settings such as physical rehabilitation and community sectors within social care and the NHS.  I have experience in community and clinical settings, providing a client needs led service.

I can provide reports for clients with the following:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Stroke
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Learning disabilities
  • Spinal injuries
  • Palliative care

Additionally, I regularly undertake:

  • Postural management assessments
  • Moving and handling assessments
  • Risk assessments
  • Management of adaptations and specialist equipment
  • Full housing/rehousing assessments
  • Sourcing independent therapy and care providers to meet the client’s needs.
  • Liaison with statutory bodies regarding funds for equipment, continuing healthcare, and managing personal health budgets.

I have worked as a rehabilitation occupational therapist with adults with acquired neurological conditions, from acute rehabilitation into the community setting. This includes working with clients with progressive neurological conditions and those who have suffered strokes.

Recently, I have had a mixed caseload within the community setting, ranging from end of life/palliative care to those requiring rehabilitation to optimise their function which can improve their quality of life. I have the skills to assess an individual’s seating and postural needs, the wheelchair they may need, as well as assess moving and handling of the client. I have a wide knowledge of specialist equipment and adaptations and can deliver interventions to ensure the client can remain safe and as independent as possible in their own home. In addition, I can assess a client’s housing needs, and determine what adaptations need to be made to the property to ensure their independence and safety, performing regular risk assessments.

I love to work with clients and explore what their goals are, and as a result can tailor make the interventions to ensure they are client led. I enjoy working with all parties including the client’s family, independent and statutory bodies, as well as support workers to ensure a co-ordinated and proactive positive outcome for the client. I can undertake risk assessments and create care plans to ensure their goals are addressed within their care programme.  I will support the therapists and staff accordingly to ensure the clients rehabilitation goals can be implemented as effectively as possible.

Within NHS and social care settings, I have provided support and supervision to staff, ensuring their wellbeing, implemented policies and procedures and also participated in service developments.

I have successfully completed the comprehensive Community Case Management Services Pathway Development Days and maintains my clinical skills by completing different CPD events such as reflections, study days, peer supervision and attending training courses.

I understand my responsibilities under Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses.  I have undertaken training in the role of an expert witness.
