Profile

I am an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner with ove r20 years’ nursing experience.

I currently work in Primary Care services, specifically GP surgeries for the last 6 years. This followed from working for 6 years in an urgent care centre and GP out of hours departments. I also provide total triage services (telephone triage an online triage) within primary care as well as consulting acute and ongoing cases within the primary care setting.

I am experienced in home visits and provided a regular care home ward round for a neurological specialist centre.

I have been a qualified nurse for over 22 years, initially working on a respiratory ward in secondary care before moving to a medical admissions unit in a sister's role for 6 years.

Over these 8 years I developed knowledge of frailty, pressure area care, risk assessments, falls assessments and monitoring of acutely unwell patients.

I went onto spend 2 years with NHS Direct expanding my knowledge in all fields as a nurse advisor, before moving into urgent care to return to face to face work. It was here working within primary care but also alongside A&E developing admission avoidance pathways that I found my passion and went onto complete modules at Master’s level to become an ANP and went onto training and mentoring other Advanced care practitioners. After 6 years I moved into working within GP surgeries, where I am still currently employed.

Along the way I have had the pleasure of working with the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in delivering the training for pharmacists to provide the CPCS (Community Pharmacy Consultation Service) programme, and work with a local homeless clinic providing acute and ongoing primary care assessments, treatment and advice to those in need.

I keep up to date and attend any training required and have attended training in being an expert witness and writing reports on Breaches of duty.
