Profile
I am a Registered General Nurse with over 35 years post qualification experience. My experience has included both hospital and community nursing where I have worked in senior positions including Staff nurse, Nursing Sister and Clinical Lead.
Until recently I worked as Clinical Lead and Registered Manager for a Home Nursing charitable organisation and held this position from December 2014 until September 2022. Prior to this appointment I worked within the same organisation from 2010 as a Bank RGN for 2 years and then from 2012 as nurse coordinator responsible for the day to day operational running and support of the clinical team. Since stepping down as registered manager I am currently employed as a palliative care nurse for the charity. The Home Nursing organisation provides registered nurses to care for people in their own homes through the last stage of illness, offering support and care for the patient, their family and carers. The service provides professional, compassionate, specialist ‘hospice at home’ nursing care at a time that can often be emotional and frightening for patients and their families.
I work very closely with the District Nursing service, local GP’s and other multi-disciplinary teams to provide an effective nursing service to the local community. As manager I was responsible for managing and maintaining the team of nurses including their recruitment, training and supervision. I was responsible for all risk assessments, policies, procedures and maintaining high standards of care.
In addition to my current nursing role, I provide expert witness reports on palliative nursing care. I understand my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses.
My past experience includes owning and managing a high quality Homecare service for the elderly. My role involved every aspect of running the organisation, managing the care of clients and the recruitment, training and supervision of staff. This included complying with statutory standards in health and social care and in 2009 we were awarded the top “Excellent” rating by CQC.
I am committed to attending regular training events and seminars in order to maintain my professional competency and development.
In 2015 I was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Nurse title in recognition of my commitment to high standards of practice and patient-centred nursing care as well as my commitment to learning and leadership.
