Profile

I am an Advanced Nurse Practitioner working in Primary Care. My current role is in Primary Care assessment and management of the patient including urgent care, out-of-hours over the telephone and in-person in the patient’s own home.

I have been qualified as a nurse for 29 years, I spent the first eight years of my career working as a RN in a District General Hospital in intensive care and on a haematology and palliative care ward.

I went on to work as a Nurse Advisor for NHS Direct and then, keen to get back to hands-on nursing, I joined a General Practice as Practice Nurse.

I left General Practice after five years to become a Community Matron, first in Exeter, and then in West Somerset which led to a job as a District Nurse Team Leader and Senior District Nursing Manager, where I developed a love for primary care.

While working in these roles, I worked as a trained nurse in elderly care nursing homes where I developed my knowledge of frailty, tissue viability, enhanced my palliative care knowledge and managed nurse teams.

I qualified as a Non-medical Prescriber in 2017, an RCN Advanced Level nurse in 2020 and gained an MSc in Advanced Practice in 2023.

I keep up to date regularly and attend appropriate training.

I have attended training in being an expert witness for  Breach of Duty and report writing.
