Profile

I am a registered Adult nurse and have gained advanced post qualification as a Advanced Clinical Practitioner. As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, I am able to physically examine, diagnose, assess, treat, refer, prescribe, order and interpret test results. I can then prescribe  treatments or implement onwards referrals based upon my assessment. I work as an independent practitioner in both inpatient and community settings.

I currently work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Neurology. In this role I manage a caseload of community patients who have a diagnosis of Parkinson’s or related disorder. As part of my role, I also cover any emergency admissions and patients when they are admitted to the hospital for acute or planned reasons.

My post qualification experience involves community experience including management of  pressure ulcers, tissue viability, catheterisation, falls and general nursing. More recently with my ongoing development I have expanded into neurological conditions and non-medical prescribing.

In addition to my current clinical role I provide expert witness Breach of Duty reports .

My areas of nursing expertise are ;

  • General Nursing
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Neurology

Prior to qualifying as a nurse I worked as a nursing assistant /care assistant for 4 years  responsible for the care of patients within a nursing home setting. More recently, over the  COVID pandemic I assisted within a nursing home by working agency shifts. This further added to my understanding of falls, fragility and tissue viability.

I understand my duties as an expert witness and have undertaken expert witness training .
