Profile

I am an experienced and dedicated nursing professional who has been nursing since 1990, specialising in occupational health nursing from 2009. I am the Clinical Director of an Occupational Health Consultancy, managing and advising on the health and well-being of employees in the employment sector.

I prepare medico-legal vocational and occupational health expert reports and my extensive experience means that I am qualified to assess the vocational needs of those with a wide range of disabilities and work related ill-health.

I undertake the full OH remit to public and private sector clients, including case management and sickness absence, ergonomic work station assessments, risk management and health screening, as well as health surveillance in relation to workplace chemical and hazards risks.

I am experienced in:

  • Vocational Rehabilitation Assessments
  • Conducting Evaluations and Assessments of Work Skills and Capacities.
  • Occupational Health.
  • Work Place Risk Assessments.
  • Managing Complex Cases.
  • Compiling Rehabilitation Programmes to Facilitate Return to Work.

I am professionally qualified with a First Class BSc. Degree with Hons in occupational health nursing. Registered on both part 1 and 3 of the nursing and midwifery council register.

I have considerable experience working with clients facing complex barriers to employment. I regularly visit the workplace where I undertake risk assessments, advise on health management at work, as well as engaging with managers and employees in terms of work rehabilitation. I have hands-on experience in evaluating work skills and capacities and formulating dedicated vocational plans. I am qualified to handle complex cases by ensuring that every aspect of diagnosis, plan development, and client placement is handled in a professional manner. I am able to create and implement plans to rehabilitate clients according to their physical and mental conditions

I regularly lead and consult with clients on health strategy, which directly enables me to positively influence health and work. This highlights key features of the occupational health nursing role.

I demonstrate expertise in performing thorough evidence-based practice and research activities. Through my clinical experiences I have developed a portfolio career which incorporates practitioner work , education and research which includes a number of published papers.

I mentor occupational health nurse students directly in workplace. I am committed to developing and contributing to community public health strategies delivered in the workplace and have been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Nurse award in recognition for my commitment to high standards of practice and patient-centred care in occupational health.

I have excellent interpersonal skills and relate positively to clients in a broad range of situations. I have worked with employers, service providers, and agencies from a diverse range of backgrounds at all levels including formula 1, nuclear, police, oil and gas and public sector industries. I provide information, advice, and guidance on all aspects of employment retention, diversity, and good practice. I am able to see issues clearly, am willing to look ‘holistically’ at problems in order to obtain the best (and quickest) result for all concerned, and am considered to be an excellent reflector with great communication skills.

I understand my duties under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses and Part 35.

I recently received the Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate in Civil Law from Cardiff University

I attend regular training updates and seminars in order to maintain my professional development. I am a published author on vocational rehabilitation with a case study presented in the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Journal.
