Profile

I have been working in emergency care since I qualified in 2004. For 10 years I worked as a emergency nurse practitioner 2 years of this in a minor injury unit and the next 8 years in A&E. I have lots of experience and knowledge dealing with adult and paediatric patients who attended with minor injuries Once starting my masters I began to see more illness and acute cases as part of my training role within the ED. Whilst still working in A&E I had the opportunity to work in the primary care unit in a local A&E autonomously seeing adults and children presenting with primary care issues . I found this type of work really interesting and I decided I wanted to develop my primary care skills and knowledge further. So in April 2022 I decided to set myself up as a limited company to further my ambitions and I can honestly say I have not looked back. I now work as a locum advanced clinical practitioner covering lots of different departments. This gives me the variety of work that I like to see and also a better work life balance. I still work in emergency care and urgent care centres when I can. I still do shifts in minor injury/illness centres seeing adults and children of all ages I work for practice plus as a locum ACP seeing adults and children of all ages who present with primary care issues.
Some of these patients can be more complex so I have to base my assessments on their needs at the time of presentation and refer appropriately I am also doing work for a private medical company delivering video consultations and organising referrals to specialists. I am trained in telephone triage as well as face to face triage. I have experience of working in custody nursing. I was the advocate for the detainee and helped to deliver medical care when needed.
